Monday 30th August 2026 - Craft Group

Well it's the end of August... where did the Summer go?

As I write this it's thundering and raining, but it looks like it won't last long. I hope everyone has enjoyed their holidays and is looking forward to some cosy, autumn evenings. The colours of autumn are amazing, I think it is my favourite time of year.

I have to confess, I took my latch hook cushion kit with me on holiday to France this summer. I did a couple of rows and then put it back in the cupboard in Madge Moho, it was tooooooo hot! (That’s my excuse and I'm sticking to it). I think there are only two cushions left to be completed now, mine being one of them - oh the shame!

The Membership Programme for 2027 is just about finalised now. I hope everyone enjoys it. As per usual I have some surprises in store for everyone.

Now that Strictly season is almost upon us again... I feeI I can close with those immortal words... ’keeeeep crafting’.

Bye for now

    Monday 11th May 2026 - Craft Group

Plenty of yawns this afternoon, but a sense of achievement following our successful Exhibition weekend. I was ever so proud of our Committee and Members, not to mention our friends and the community.

Those latch hook cushions are still being worked on... and will be for a while. One member has given hers away to someone else to complete as, in her own words, “she hated it so much”. We had another new project being worked on today as well, one which hadn't seen the light of day for a great number of years, it was an embroidery project and it will be amazing when it is finished.

As for me, I just sat in a haze and drank tea! Happily reminiscing about the weekend and planning our next event... watch this space is all I can say!

    Bye for now, Rosie.

      Friday 24th April 2026 - Art Group

Well gardens are blooming and growing and the weather has been pretty decent recently. This reminds us that Summer is on the way….. hopefully……it also means that our Annual Art and Craft Exhibition is looming! We are busying away in the background making arrangements. Our theme for the Art Group’s display is Flowers this year. So flowers were in abundance this week. Some of us are well prepared, others not so much.

Enjoy the photos, if you want to see them in real life call into the Exhibition on Satuday 9th or Sunday 10th May 2026. We’re in Burton Memorial Hall, Burton-in-Kendal.

      Bye for now

        Monday 13 April 2026 - Craft Group

The race for the Latch Hook Cushion completion has been won. One of our members has finished and I must say the cushion looks lovely. Well worth the effort. A few of us are still plodding on and there is a vicious rumour that one member has given hers away to someone to finish it for her…….. I won’t name and shame, but you know who you are …. Hee hee!

Keep crafting everyone, until next time

        Friday 27 February 2026 - Art Group

Today we were looking forward to Spring type activities - garden fetes, marquees, camping and anything in between. I decided in my own weird way to celebrate rain… and puddles... a few of which we have seen over the last few weeks! Basically a child having fun splashing in puddles with wellies on was my ‘activity’. Still work in progress this week and not ready for the end of session Gallery yet - maybe next week. We had Ice Skaters, Camping and Village Scenes this week, along with some micro beasts from last week.

Until next time, let your heart inspire your art.
